There are abilities that use it. The whole tactical advantage mechanic is stupid, there is no UI that supports the proper use of it as a class mechanic (like souldshards for warlocks in WoW)
-> General You have stim Boost, 3 energy every 3 seconds for 45sec, consumes TA You have Carbine Burst, a Cone AE that consumes a TA You have Kolto Infusion, a quick cast heal that uses 1 tactical advantage
-> Concealment You have Laceration, a high damage ability that consumes a TA You have Revitalizers, which give Stim boost a heal component as well You have Tactical Opportunity, which allows a Collateral strike to grant TA You have Meticulously Kept Blades, which increases Stim boost regen (anscillary, to stimboost)
-> Leathality You have cull which deals more damage than the sniper version, but consumes a TA
-> Medic You have Medical Consult talent which gives an extra 6% healing if 1 TA is up You have Surgical Probe talent, a no cost instant heal that consumes a TA You have Surgical Precision talent, which makes SP not consume TA if the target is < 30% health

Sure, having a more customisable UI would make it easier to pay attention to when TA is up, but I'm now used to hearing my Operative laugh as an indication of when it procs.
Ok, wasn't sure on the stacking. And I misunderstood your initial question :) So the reason for having 2 is that you can use the consumption abilities while still maintaining 1 stack of TA.
Medic has an easy time getting TA, as they need it for group healing.

Posted 1/3/2012 10:28:15 AMIs there any benefit to having 2 stacks of Tactical Advantage up?
I've searched forums, and the abilities and talent trees, but I can't find anything.
Regardless of how many stacks are up, it's still a 2% buff. The lenght of time it's up doesn't seem to change with increased stacks.
Am I missing something obvious?
Thanks

Posted 1/3/2012 1:12:22 PMI believe the 2% stacks, so it would be 4% w/ 2.

You have Carbine Burst, a Cone AE that consumes a TA
You have Kolto Infusion, a quick cast heal that uses 1 tactical advantage

You have Revitalizers, which give Stim boost a heal component as well
You have Tactical Opportunity, which allows a Collateral strike to grant TA
You have Meticulously Kept Blades, which increases Stim boost regen (anscillary, to stimboost)

-> Medic
You have Medical Consult talent which gives an extra 6% healing if 1 TA is up
You have Surgical Probe talent, a no cost instant heal that consumes a TA
You have Surgical Precision talent, which makes SP not consume TA if the target is < 30% health

Posted 1/4/2012 10:02:34 AMKern ... that's what I thought it did, but it doesn't.
The buff stays at 2% even with 2 stacks.
Frag had it right.

Posted 1/9/2012 9:35:59 PMkern is correct, the purpose of having 2 stacks of TA is being able to use one, and still keep the buff up.
