Well, Bioware claims at least that crafted gear will be at least roughly comparable to Raid/PVP gear and since Synthweaving is armor(of all classes) and mods for armor for Force users, I would hazard the guess that Synthweaving would be a good choice, but honestly I don't know.
Well, it seems that all crafters have a selection of BoP equips at max crafting level (400). My brief glance at synthweaving on the DH database (check out http://db.darthhater.com/recipes/synthweaving for more research) showed a range of belts and bracers that are BoP, with stats that are better than any crafted BoE for the same slot, as well as some BoP sets of armour (head/chest/hands/legs/feet). How these BoP's compare with raid gear as it stands idk - presumably comparable to normal leve ops/heroic flashpoints, and outclassed by hard/nightmare mode ops.
And it doesn't appear that "crafting bonuses" are in (such as skinning boost to crit rating, mining boost to stamina etc.)
Looks to me like you are better off going Biochem for reusable medkits/stimoacks/adrenals. Those are likely to be unique, and infinite health potions + flasks+ max hp/armor proc adrenals sound really handy for a raid tank.
If the crafted armor in synthweaving was BIS I would probably go that route, but from what I have seen it isn't.

Posted 12/27/2011 10:42:20 AMI am going with Biochem as a crafting crew skill. It is cool to send your companions on a crafting mission to find them on your ship gathered around the crafting table working away. http://db.darthhater.com/screenshot_images/1369/screenshot_1369/#1369
