Marauder PvP playstyle; Spec, rotation/priority etc.

  • #1 thefartwizzard

Hey so I've been pvping quite a shitload on my marauder since I've gotten the game, and my only compliant is that there are some abilities that really aren't even worth using seeing as the damage they do is subpar to the rest of our abilities.

So basically, let me know what your typical rotaiton is on certain targets, I just charge, slow, rupture and then hammer away using my CD abilities, using berserk when it's available.

What would be nice if someone or some people would post there toolbar layouts for those of us new to DPS classes.  I'm also somewhat new to MMO's only haveing played WoW to high 20's, DAoC high 20's and SWG to high 20's.  So I would not consider myself a newbie but one that still lacks the expert knowledge like others.

Wound in the Force::GoHann (lvl 35 Maurader)

    Here's mine 2/8/31 build with rotations/bindings/etc.

my spec is a pve spec but im the highest single target damage on server in pvp and i push out 60-100k heals. Obviously im annilation. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#100bIrRroMcGzZhRbZ0M.1 theres a link to my spec

i start out with force charge then deadly saber, battering assault, rupture, annilation ravage, then rupture if annilation reset it. then vicious throw if they are below 20 percent if not  force choke force scream. then i repeat that rotation and prioritize the highest dps or best cc and use vicous slash as a rage dump and to reset rupture. Use berserk every time its up and dont really need to use or waist your 5 minute cool down in pvp since it only effects u and three other people. Instead berserk heals you since you should be able to keep a dot up at least half the time till rupture is off cd or deadly saber. Popping trinkets really helps you burst so pracitice that along with using your defensive cool downs. Also not trying to do 2 much will help since marauders don't have any good cc except fear and force choke which should be saved for dangerous situations.  AND LASTLY MAKE SURE TO USE YOUR DEFENSIVE CDS CORRECTLY no way to explain that just practice with them in duels. Oh and dont forget the saber throw is your only chance against a powerful medic since it reduces healing and they are getting more and more op every day.

Get somone to under 20percent and its GG, MY vicious throw crits for 3.2k which is 20 percent of the average hp of 50's

Thanks for posting this spec and rotation has really helped me figure out why I was getting handled so much in PvP. Granted I'm still not quite where I want to be yet, but I'm getting there. Also I'm not 50 yet with any expertise gear and I know Marauders are really gear dependant.

Rage spec; works wonderfully in PvP.

    http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#100bcZhMZGRRrzbMdGR.1

So charge in, force crush (for the snare and the charges) then once you have 4 charges of shockwave, use smash. Then relentless assault and force choke; then obliterate and smash again. Force crush should be back up by then.

Smash does ~3500-4000 damage with this spec; so if you're fighting in a crowd you get a lot of bang for your buck. This spec also has an extra slow and an extra short-range charge in the form of Obliterate; so it's possibly the most mobile spec. And an extra ~10% damage reduction over marauder specs given that you use Shii-Cho.

EDIT: Also wanted to add that this spec does great PvE damage as well. I wouldn't be surprised to see the 20% base armor penetration in this spec get nerfed; I'm regularly pulling aggro off tanks much better geared than I.

    speaking of playstyle

marauders look alot like fury warriors in wow(i know, this isnt world of warcraft)but i didnt really like playing fury.would i also hate playing a marauder cuz im thinkin if they nerf concealment operatives really bad in pvp about just makin a carnage spec marauder instead of a operative

but the whole not like fury warriors in world of warcraft thing kinda has held me back but im wondering if the playstyle is completly different

Rage plays like Arms and Carnage plays like Fury, in my opinion. I personally love the Rage tree and the 100% crit smashes with added bonus damage. Plus the damage reductions and increased mobility options are nice in PvP as well.

    yeah

but i dont know,i guess it depends on if i end up not liking operatives in pvp cuz i mean.i play a arms warrior in wow and really love it but i kinda dont really feel like making a class in star wars old republic thats gonna feel the exact same as the class i played in world of warcraft
