I am looking to upgrade my PC to these components...should this be able to play SWTOR on good graphics settings?

    ASUS P6X58D-E
    Intel Core i7-960 Bloomfield 3.2GHz
    6 gb kingston ram
    ASUS ENGTX570 DCII/2DIS/1280MD5

I bought a new mousepad. Not really for TOR, but eh.
I'm planning to maybe buy a new harddrive, however, as I'm running out of space for the future 30Gb of Old Republicy goodness. I suppose I could just uninstall some other games and programs that I never use, but yet again; Eh.

Yes, but at this point there's no reason to buy any Intel besides Sandy Bridge.

If you already have it, that's fine, but for a new build definitely not.

New PC either on its way or parts already here.

    Asus Maximus IV Gene-Z

Any idea what a decent rig would cost me to build? I am going to have to build two of them, one for myself and one for the old lady, and I don't know anything about this stuff.

Do both need to be gaming rigs or can your computer just be for gaming? Also what kind of budget are you working with?

Can you give me more details on this?  I am looking to upgrade for around $1,000 to something that can play swtor with high graphics settings.  I am not looking for the best of the best.  I dont know anything about Sandy bridge so more details on that would be great.

Sandy Bridge, socket 1155, is the new budget cpu that performs just as well and better in other cases then the 1366 CPU's also sometime next year Intel is introducing a new higher end line in the form of Ivy Bridge, socket 2100 or something like that, which will replace 1366 CPU's. Basically if you want future updatability and save some money get a 2400 to a 2500k and a lga 1155 Z86  motherboard.

Z86 motherboards have new features that won't be in the other boards.

Yeah they would both be for SWTOR. Going to build one first before making the second, to make sure my girlfriend will even like this game. Chances are she won't play it. I would have to say my budget would probably be in the $700 range(per computer). The only thing I will do with this computer is a little internet surfing, SWTOR, and probably store some music on it.
Would like to have a unit capable of running TOR at max settings. Not sure if the computer I have right now would even survive the minimum on TOR.
AMD Athlon 64X2 XP Media Edition
    2.0 GHZ
    250 GB HD
    3x1024MBDDR
nVidia GeForce 6100 built in video card. Upgrading the video card won't be an option for me, the video card slot does not work, as I have already tried to upgrade it.

Well here's a general idea of what I would buy not including monitor and OS. If you want to save some money your only options would be to downgrade the CPU to a 2400 or to go AMD.

    Case

    Motherboard
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128520 $114.99

    CPU
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115072 $219.99

    Video Card
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150551 $169.99 (139.99 after rebate)

    Ram
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820146748 $34.99 ($29.99 after rebate)

    PSU
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341016 $59.99 ($49.99 after rebate)

    DVD

    $669.99

Looks pretty good to me. I definetly would not want to downgrade anything. I want there to be some room for expansions and such on TOR. Would hate to buy a computer, then the next year or two an expansion comes out and my computer is at the bottom of the barrel again.
