There is no wind, there's no ambient music you can put on loop like WoW and no general sound of life. I always heard the environmental sounds in WoW, in SWTOR it's just my footsteps, maybe music when I first enter the planet or when an event happens, most the time running around it's just footsteps though. I really want a seperate footsteps slider so I can turn them off without turning off other sounds.
This i feeel what the game is lacking the most to feel more imersive is this.
Seems to be the popular thing to do now... putting down SWTOR. Especially on Gamebreaker :P. If you don't like it just go. No need to write a wall of text on a SWTOR website stating that your leaving. No one cares.
I don't get why there is hostility, these are points who have been made by many people and all valid. I came to express my opinion and defend them as this is a forum and for some reason I'm being insulted for that....
Just think it says more about you than it does me. now the MMO genre is dead with nothing worthwhile coming out any time soon, I hold no hold for it. People can go on about PS2 and GW2 all they like but GW2 is instanced and zoned to fuck with no proper world PVP wither (WvWvW is just a big battleground) and has a generic Asian art style, PS2 is made by SOE.... so really nothing is left for the genre.
Whatever if you people aren't interested in the game being improved in the right direction then let SWTOR join every single other MMO that has failed since WoW, it's heading in that direction.
I can fill you in on why there is so much hostility. When you try to play a game, and are limited to only a short time to get anything done, and asshats like yourself show up specifically to stop anyone else from enjoying the game instead of actually doing something useful with their time, it feels like you've wasted your money, as well as whatever time you soak in. Losing a battle is one thing, but losing my time is something else, since time is an irreplaceable resource in the game, and one that too many teenage players have an unlimited supply of.
People which do like grieving are the same which like farming undergeared players to show how good they are at pvp, probably the same people which complain that it was made easier to get pvp gear. I love to do pvp but I have so much else to do and not more time to do it so I have to cut pvp to finish the other stuff first.
Meh... I canceled back in early March but I'm still interested in TOR and would love for its design flaws to be fixed. Unfortunately the game is just too linear, too short, and I doubt BioWare has the willpower or budget to fix it. Especially doubtful since EA has started targetting BioWare Austin for layoffs. I wouldn't mind posting in the official forums to at least give them some moral support. Of course you can't post there without an active account. I wouldn't mind posting more here but, like most TOR focus sites, it got very quiet by March. I actually go to another Curse site to have active and relatively open discussions and debates about TOR.
So, yes, it is just that poster's opinion but since they can't post on the official site without an account... Where would you have them post?
I really enjoyed this game when I played it, until early march when I took some online classes, got a new job, and moved up tax brackets instead (ie, I was really busy). I could have put my subscription on hold, but I didn't, because I wanted to continue to support a game that I wanted to do well so I could enjoy it whenever I came back, eventually (which happens to be now, maybe). We'll see what happens when kid 3 comes in August...
I personally take the game very slow; in 2.5 months of playing, i didn't even get to legacy level on my main. It seems that the ones complaining the most are the people who play the shit out of the game. The game needs people like that, but they also are the loudest critics. I hope the game isn't as bad as everyone says it is. SWTOR has so much potential, and I would hate to see it all flushed away.
I am playing this game because I was a KOTOR addict, so my opinion may not be one of general relevance.
Is it getting better, or worse? Is there hope? Are they still holding up that 4th pillar, at least?
The game is more like KOTOR than a MMO. It's also casual play friendly from what I hear. If it were me I would look for people you could call an say hey you wana play swootah this weekend. You know plan some things. Better or worse the game relies heavy on social an multiplayer. Technically you shouldn't be allowed to single player mode. The worst MMO in history can be very fun if it becomes a social activity. So to a degree the single player KOTOR built into SWTOR is a very bad development choice. Forced grouping isn't a good thing, but it works in the real world to create social enviroments. I've noticed this game takes some getting used to for sure. It is however getting better.
One thing i know is if you say an opinion that isnt positive the carebear alliance and fanbois of the 121st come out of the woodworks. The game has gone f2p you have idiots like james ohlen and gabe doing what they want and telling you were making it for you then still doing what "they" want.
In order for this game to be HUGELY succesful not just "get by" they need to redesign the majority of worlds in a sandbox manner.
You need to get housing/nieghborhoods like in swg where the other side can defend thier nieghborhood i.e swg days
gabe ametegelo/james ohlen need the boot (these 2 have hurt the game badly)
Needed server forums at launch instead they told fan sites to make server forums then decided to make halfass semi server forums. Then when the game when in the toilet they decide to do it lol
Open world objective based pvp. Cant happen due to gabes incompetence see warhammer. James ohlen says thier waiting on technology to make open world pvp that every other game in mmo history has but here on a game that suposedly spent 100 mill or so were "waiting on technology"
People wonder why this went f2p?
If you like the game thats fine but your settling for a poor star wars game. I refuse to settle for kotor 3 with a sub
To be fair, real SW fans are used to playing "poor star wars games". Great SW games are the very tiny minority among a large amount of turds, of which I've played many of them. :P You have maybe 5 "great" SW games out of a pile of dozens of SW games released over the years. Only one out of the 4 RTS games was any good, and 90% of the Episode 1 based games were crap too.
TOR is just fine though. I don't see why the second biggest monthly-fee MMO is going F2P. You don't throw in the towel when you're second place.
TOR is not going F2P because it lacks server forums or half the petty things you listed, hargie. And you mention the "fire James and Gabe" thing in every dang post you make, you can stop now. :P
Open world objective based pvp is just hard to do. Even WoW gave up on it after the bungle of Wintergrasp, choosing to make it a glorified battleground with teleport options, same for the Cataclysm equivalent in Tol Barad. Even the king of the mountain can't do open-world objective-based pvp well.
I love SWG housing, but it was never a major draw in the kinds of numbers TOR wants. I loved SWG and its housing, but the housing only kept players who numbered in the low double-digit thousands tops by the end. You won't see millions of players over that either.
well guess what its going free to play :D however i dont see it as a trowing the towel at all. F2p is the norm today, much more profitable, and i was amazed they didnt go F2P from the get go, now they are adding that option, but the way i see it, its only a way to squeeze even more from more vast pool of players.
does it help you put your delusional posts here from time to time? You can't change SWTOR into SWG... get it in your head and stop pretending as if SWG was so damn successful that every Star Wars fan is missing it because, guess what.... almost no one knows about this game and housing and crafting wouldn't work in SWTOR... it's that simple. I can't stand these people pretending that you can just cut and past everything anywhere... it's not true and it's not getting any truer the more often you are posting it.
Add to swtor free space, vanity games like swoop races and pazaak and some other stuff next to your content and you will do fine, especially now that it's f2p. You won't catch all the WoW crowd because your product is too similar, therefor you have to find another way to attract people.
