And Ztolerance, we did play the game quite a bit. I may have slowed down a bit in the last few weeks, but the others haven't much. But we focused on different aspects of the game. I was the ops guy, I mostly did casual leveling, dailies, flashpoints, and operations. Some of the others were level crazy and had like 10 level 50s but didn't do as much at high end. Others did a lot more PvP than I did. So we all played the game pretty actively, we just didn't all play every part of the game pretty actively. I think that may be the "obvious" thing you've mistaken for hardly even playing.
Nothing wrong with moving on. I haven't played since late June myself, while continuing to visit DH daily. Though in my case, it was technical problems that knocked me off TOR. The game constantly froze my entire computer, when I'm someone who HATES freezing or rebooting. Then in June the launcher went into an infinite loop of downloading/installing Main Assets 1 in all its 10gb glory. When a GM's suggestion to fix it was to reboot into safe mode to patch, I gave up.
I still love the game, just not the technical issues I went through with it. I still follow it on DH daily. It's got a dedicated constant tab in Chrome for me. Scruffy believes in this company!
So I've been lurking on this site since launch. I'm not really the kind of person that signs up for things. But I must say, I was pretty bummed when this site looked like it was down for the count. Additionally, I was pretty stoked when I saw that it was back.
Keep up the good work Vox. It's nice to have DH back online.
It wasn’t a direct shot at anyone, relax. I was more referring to recent podcasts and a seemingly lack of motivation to play.
I’m well aware that you were the "ops guy". You didn’t get a chance to speak up all that often though, which was sometimes disappointing, as you seemed to be the most knowledgeable of the group.
I guess playtime doesn’t equate to overall game knowledge and understanding. Maybe that’s how I should have worded my post.
Finally, like ive said a few times in my last few posts - i appreciate the team and what they have achieved. Its been entertaining and a good read / listen. I hope the site continues, so i can return to my lurking ways :)
Fair enough Z. Just a lot of the guys have been taking some flak over "not playing TOR enough," so all the voices kind of run together. I just try to at least point out that they do at least play a lot.
Thanks for your compliments too I'm glad at the very least all the years of my life I've spent on video games makes me sound knowledgeable =D I'm hoping to work on my skill sets a bit and find some more chances to contribute to the industry one of these days. But the chance for a break was well placed as far as the craziness of my RL schedule goes.
And Rogue, I totally get what you're saying. I spent the first two or three beta builds working with BW people on getting the freakin launcher to update properly and load the game. Didn't have any problems post-launch fortunately, but sorry to hear you ran in to so many! Have you tried it again recently?
Regardless, I think the lack of some type of 'exit' post is extremely, extremely shady. It makes no sense that the people who created the site and help it grow make no posts. That doesn't seem like them at all. You make this post, with no backing or support of any kind and expect everything to move forward while the rest of the community takes you at your word? Their lack of interest in SWTOR aside, forgive me if I don't take your post for face value.
Valyrius, Emlaeh and a few others have all spoken up and shown their support for the site moving forward, some of them in this very thread. And yes, the people that created this site and helped it grow into what it is haven't made any posts because they're no longer staffed here, of their own free will. Absolutely nothing dubious, or shady, or underhanded has gone on here. The site has changed hands, and as a result they've decided to move on to bigger and better things.
As I understand now, all original crewmembers decided to move one (which is their right and I can understand that they do, having so much time spent with this game) however most of them seem to have forgotten to say goodbye. They (Justin, Pete, Ben, ...) could have posted something but decided not to (except Emleah) which is disappointing. Mainly because they took the chance for everyone to say goodbye and wish everything well with whatever they intended to do. It leaves a sour taste especially for people which visited this site for years, listened to the first and last podcast... it's almost like someone died and you had no chance to say everything you wanted to say.
I was sad to hear that the original darthhater crew, which we followed on uncountable events, trying to squeeze and dissect the last little hint to speculate over together, left... thanks for that time and for the seemingly never ending effort to keep us folks updated.
(so at least I could say what I wanted to say, nevermind if they will ever read it or not but I guess rather not)
As for the new "owner"/ "responsible" person.... I hope there is going to come a lot of stuff to talk about and as I'm still a subscriber... I hope they just started with more customization and non-progression-cartel "content".
Hey, thanks for writing, and don't worry about necro'ing this thread, it's not a big deal. I'd been working with Justin and co. since last year, I produced the OpsCom column. Toward December things fell apart, and I wasn't exactly sure what was going on. But, in the interest of keeping the site alive, I was asked to head it up, and I chose to. So, I'm obviously not as familiar with everyone or everything as the "original" crew, but I've been around for a while, so hopefully I can keep you guys up to speed on all the things you need to know. Thanks again for checking in, as well as your continued patronage and support!
