EV Hard Mode Pylons Bug

  • #1 SirSurtees

    Hi all,

Me and some guildies were running through the Eternity Vault in Hard Mode earlier when we got to the Ancient Pylons boss. All was well with this part of the operation until both pylons finished wheel 2, at this point the consoles wouldn't reset and there was no way to continue the fight. Is there any way to avoid this bug happening, or is it just simply luck that gets you through this boss at the moment? Any help would be appreciated.

Only way I have fixed it is by resetting, and clearing the trash again.

There are similar posts about this issue on swtor.com forums.

The solution that worked for my group this week was to make sure the south pylon always solved the current level of the wheel then the north.

So the south should always go first then north can solve theirs.

It's pure luck. There is no 'this will work' solution. We've tried a lot of different combinations (one side before the other, both at the same time, both using the longest way, both using the shortest way, just using the pylons whenever ready and so on) and each of them eventually ended in the encounter bugging out for us, even in the normal mode.

If one solution seemed to work for you, kudos, you were lucky.

Wrong. Having "South" solve theirs first redimies this bug from happening in the first place, also going right every single time will further ensure of success.

Sigh. So I guess letting South solve their riddle before North must have been too hard for us which is why it eventually ended up bugging out for us.

There is no bug, it has been proven countless times.People who get stuck just always say it's a bug and it has become a very false misconception.

We have done it he right way, multiple weeks with no problem.

If you learn to do it the right way you will have no problems. Hint: You must solve it by having North/South solve their tiers in the correct order. Hint #2: North has to solve the first tier FIRST. Figure out the rest of the order and you will have no problems.

If you do not do it in the right order they will lock. Also if you do not solve it fast enough and get the two colocoids (the last spawn) they will lock shortly after.

The only bug in this encounter is sometimes people do them the wrong way and the consoles do not lock.

Using this method we have never had the encounter bug nor have we ever had to redo it for any reason, it's just free gear at this point.

This is not entirely correct, there is no specific order other than the encounter will randomly bug if the north solves a pylon before the south (usually bugs on the 2nd one), if you let the south solve every wall first you'll not run into any problems.

Ok guys, we were able to clear it finally. However our reset button seemed to be bugged, and even if we clicked reset all active operations the phase would not, and the only way of fixing this is to come back the next day. Is anyone else having this problem, and if so is there a way to avoid it?

When we did North completing the bottom wheel first, South completing the 2nd and 3rd wheels first, and North finishing the last wheel first, it worked.

Very annoying though.  We had to reset numerous times before we read up on the solution.

I really enjoy "puzzles" in games, but you actually have to provide clues.  Otherwise it's not a puzzle, it's a roadblock.  If Bioware actually intended for the order of the pillars to be a "feature", then they need to provide clues.

I hear that the Pylons BREATHE MORE!!*

*old Wow reference to the fact that the Vanilla-Wow community was totally convinced that Blizz had changed the Onyxia boss so that it breathed more, even though Blizz had never touched the boss-script during Vanilla.

TL;DR - Rumours are rumours. Repeating them louder and faster than the refutations doesn't make them true.
