Bioware helped to raise Revan to those heights too though for marketing reasons, so it's not all on the fans. Maybe Bioware shouldn't have built up a character like Revan the way they did and leave his outcome on a cliffhanger for 7 years as expectations grew stronger and stronger from the fans who wanted closure. There are ways Bioware could've handled this better IMHO instead of rushing a book for TOR's release.

To be fair, fans had already raised Revan to that level years before. Remember the massive fan outcry at the idea that Revan could die in TOR? It's like they thought Revan was above death despite just being an ordinary Jedi who flirted with the Dark side. He was far weaker than Anakin Skywalker, and Anakin Skywalker most definitely could die.
