Quote fromAny advice on laptop gaming? What existing laptop would most likely run TOR at the highest settings? I know desktops are cheaper and upgradeable, but I spend my life touring and so require a portable computer or I have wasted my money. Do I have to buy the top of the line? Or will a year old computer do it? Thanks a lot.
As others have mentioned good 17" model notebooks, I'll point out a couple on the other end of the size spectrum.
I'd first ask how portable do you need it to be? I see you mention touring, so the weight (often approaching 10 pounds) of many of the 17" gaming notebooks might be a consideration. A comfortable medium might be one of the 15" models that CyberPowerpc does. Their Xplorer X6-9400 comes with an i7-2630QM quad-core CPU and an nVidia GTX 560M (1.5 gb) graphics card in its stand config for only $1149. For maximum mobility, a 14" Asus U46SV-DH51 configured with the i7-2630QM and a GT 540M would set you back about the same amount and only weigh about 4.5 pounds.
