About 1 Sinroth, the popular opinion of players criticizing the game seems to be the engine, but if you play RIFT, wich uses the exact same engine, there is none of the issues.

My personal view is that in the effort to try and finish the game they hired too many fresh out of college student and the code ended up pretty unstable. I do not think the problem is the engine at all, though i certainly wouldnt mind a revamp of the graphics engine if it meant better graphics without them beeing heavier on the machine (something like TERA, but that can handle great numbers of players).

Really the point is: Dont believe what some random guys are saying about technical stuff. They really have no clue most of the time.

Also in that meeting with the fans, Dallas said they are improving the engine, wich is quite heavy and are hitting the main pillars one by one in priority order. The biggest one will be hit by the Illum patch, wich should already be quite visible in the game's performance. Lets hope that really happens. Most of the complaints about the engine would disappear after that.

Ok my wish list in no particular order:

    1. More Huttball Maps.

    2. I like the idea of solo dungeons for you and 3 companions like its a party. It would bring back some of that KOTOR feel back. Rewards should be companion gear and customizations.

    3. Swoop racing allowing PvE PvE and leaderboards for time attack. Rewards should be swoop pieces, cstomization, credits and cosmetic rewards.

    4. Pazaak. It cant be that difficult to implement right? Its a simple game, it should be available on every cantina. There should also be something like weekly tournaments. Rewards should be credits and cosmetic rewards.

    5. Development roadmap. I want to know what is coming up for the game. Its not fun to play an MMO blind. i want to know what to expect and when a new expansion comes out.

    6. More story content. Class story, big world chains are all a go. Secondary quests can go to text only. I'm sure it would be best for everyone like that.

    7. More ops on a regular basis, aswell as more flashpoints. We havent gotten a new flashpoint in how long? 6 months? Its ok to do less if you add more bosses. Biggest Op we got so far has 5 bosses.

    8. Different species. I want yoda like and Jawa. This obviously has to be for an expansion has it would require totally new animations.

    9. Best make it short like this: An expansion announced. We need to know the game is gonna be supported and we want to get excited about whats coming ahead.

Why doesnt anyone ask when the issue with combat delay/loss of global cooldowns when spamming your skills gets fixed? =(

Its the biggest issue with the game. The combat needs to be perfectly seamless for the game to thrive on the long term.

Yeah Katsuragisama that f2p was definitely the end of it for me. I had my fun with the game (over 1000 hours logged on xfire) and it just felt like it was time to go on since I was less and less happy with the game each time I played it. I wasn't that interested in gw2 for a while until I began looking it up and saw this cool random event for a lvl 10 player that looked more like a high end content boss and it just appears out of no where. That caught my heavily but then that massive WvW did it for me and even though I am not a major pvp person I got really interested in it. Actually since getting gw2 I been doing lots of pvp because the combat system is a lot of fun to mess with and you get to do more than just kill X player. Especially in the WvW there is a lot more than just kill players. To me the only really cool stuff in this game was the modding system for gear and the crafting system because everyone hates going out to farm items, lol. Other than that there wasn't anything special and everything does feel like it's such a damn small game. Maybe that's just cause gw2 feels like such a massive place in every environment just about. Definitely some of the worse and insulting thing of all was the mini rail shooter space game to swtor. Of all things, a mini rail shooter in starwars? wtf...Even the battle front games that are very old got more space and freedom (and fun lol) than this games space game. F2P definitely won't get me to come back but I guess at least the company isn't closing down the game all together for the few people that are left over claiming this game is still doing "amazingly well".

I think you should go an play GW2. You will have a great first few days and in a few weeks you will see the clear picture.

If you like having fun, you will come back to SWTOR. I have no doubt about this after playing GW2 to 80. Its extremely overhyped. The game is a very shallow and repetitive experience.

I did reply to your original post almost point by point. There are things i agree with and things that i dont.

From my understanding you left the game quite early. The UI is highly customizable nowadays, there really is no need for addons. Combat log exists aswell now.

And i still think an arena mode, random and pre-made could be alot of fun aswell. I think conversations on secondary quests are probably not super necessary and can be replaced by a dynamic event system, even though i dont dislike the current model as i love choosing my characters lines. I could live without it if it would get other people satisfied.

Races i really dont see what can be done. In star wars, all the races are human like. Even the fish people have human bodies. Cant really make something up. That is why we got the different body types.

I dont think you dislike the game very much to be honest. You just chose not to give it a chance.

Bioware beeing slow at fixing bugs, optimizing the engine and at releasing content? Sure i can agree with that. I personally hate the bug that makes a GCD trigger and no skill happens in operations when im spamming my skills.
It doesnt cloud my vision that SWTOR is a very enjoyable game and i have good fun playing. Especially the PvP (love huttball, there is nothing else like it). Bioware seems to be adressing many of the issues and the game gets better with every patch. I think that by F2P the game will be in a very good state.

Dont take this personally, but skill bloat is in my opinion just a symptom of too much WoW 4 skill gaming. The fact that you have several skills is incredible in my opinion, it is brain stimulating to come up with the best uses for them. I really dont understand how someone can think that its a bad thing when it gives you more to do.

Its because of opinions like yours that games like GW2 come out with combat systems that 5 year olds could play. Its repeptitive, boring and treats players like retards who cant understand how to play a game. Skill bloat? No its not, its combat depth. You just need to expand those horizons to become better.

GW2: If I swing my sword and it hits you... guess what? You take damage. AoE. It does make sense right?

Now my lightsaber, if I swing it and you are in front of me but you are not my target... nothing happens. Dated combat system?

Its the aoe effect of the Auto-attack fenomenon + 1 or 2 extra buttons. It must be infinitely more varied and not repetitive or boring at all.

Please... the combat in GW2 is utter crap. Gutter crap more precisely. Doesnt hold a candle to the original game. SWTOR combat is ALOT better.

Why do so many try to compare swtor to what wow was 8 years ago? Are you really capable of making your brain blank out 6-7 years of wow polish just to do swtor justice? The game is just too damn similar to wow to not get compared with wow. And guess what, wow still exists, and that's why you have to compare it to what wow is today, not what it used to be. Well, that's what Bioware should have done anyway.

I initially loved swtor for being somewhat fresh and giving me something wow (nor AOC/WAR/Aion) hadn't for years. I still like parts of it. But in the end there were just too many issues, small and large, which eventually piled up and made me not want to log in again. I found myself logging in just because I REALLY wanted SWTOR to be something more than it actually was to me.

    Some issues;

-Crazy loading times even with an SSD

    -Lag in instances

    -Bugged bosses

    -Bugged abilitys

-Skill bloat (3-4 buttons for skills that only work on weak/strong foes? And another 2-3 just for snared mobs? COME ON! There are too few action bars even without these!!)

-Quest conversations are too drawn out. Loved the voice acting initially. By my late 30's spacebar was my best friend.

-Boring races. They're all humans with minor tweaks imo.

-Not really any freedom to explore the worlds. Railroad while questing. Most planets are just maps with enclosed pathways. Tatooine seemed nice and open at first, but then I met my first invisible wall, which totally killed immersion. Then I got killed by "out of bounds" fatigue in the dune sea, and any sense of fun was killed alltogether.

    -Lack of combat log.

-Can't use addons. I LOVE customizing my UI, toying with raidframes, timerbars, cooldown notifications, quality of life questing addons etc. etc.

    -No arena style pvp.

The list could go on, but these are the issues that got me in the end. Might aswell play wow, when it's there and has all this and more. I probably won't, but still, one might aswell :)

    These old arguments again?

Yeah you can say the game is buggy, they are slow to fix the bugs and that the content is slow to arrive, but the rest of your points just dont hold up, just as they didnt in the past.

Skill bloat? No one forces you to use the circunstancial skills like when the target is stunned and so. Use them if you like, but they are not necessary nor can they be used on bosses or PvP. There your problem solved.

Quest conversation are again, optional. You can skip them.

Boring races? Its star wars races, you wanna play with a Hutt or something? Maybe you want to play with the pig people? Ewoks? Jedi Ewoks? Does it sound sensible to you? Or maybe you wanna see 30 yodas running about ruining the uniqueness of the character?

Combat log exists, you need to parse it outside the game in websites for it and you can see it.

There is no need for addons. There are plenty of UI customizations options in the the current game.

No arena style PvP? Well i guess that is something that can be added in the future... but the only other game that has it is WoW and its a terrible unbalanced mess. Warzones are certainly leagues ahead of WoW in terms of balance and fun.

The list that goes on is of pety and minor issues. This game is good. Whats working against it seems to be EA, and i am sad Bioware seems to have no power to stop them. Hopefully, with F2P things take a turn for the best.

Considering the 6 people still working on the game.

If that is the case then there is no hope for this game, but from the interview i saw with the new head-honcho of the game, the intent is to have more than a million players playing the game. If this is the way content comes out, no one will stick around.

I am hoping this is a placeholder. It makes no sense otherwise, unless they have another operation ready to come out with Makeb. The rate at wich content come out has to be better than this, its hitting worse than WoW levels and that is unacceptable. I am hoping these extra months were giving bioware a headstart, and not because they cant go any faster...

This is a really good game, i wish EA would stop trying to destroy it. You gain subscribers by inspiring confidance on the commitment you are putting in the game. If i start seeing holes or cut corners like this i start getting seconds thoughts about putting my money on this game when i got no garantee its gonna keep the level of quality content it had in the first 3 months.

For example i feel more secure subbing to FFXIV because square is showing their commitment to making it the best game it can be, even if it means remaking most of it.

    okay so;

    you want;

    1. planet quests that change all the time

    2. a skill system that uses 2 buttons

    3. to be able to take on ops boss without any thought of group composition or gear

    4. lightsabers that instakill anyone they hit

Ill stop here. Because it is clear that the authors expectations are unrealistic and his head is somewhere other than realisitic mmo play.

And I find myself unable to remain civil when someone pretends to be doing some "official journalism," but in truth show that they are so out of touch with mmo reality that they are a noob and nothing else.

You hit the nail in the head.

Want a 2 button combat: Go to GW2. Its exactly that and god it sickens me to the stomach how boring and repetitive it is.

Its an MMO, lightsabers cant possibly 1 shot everyone or it would be far too easy. Try to separate reality from gaming.

Op bosses are fine, i guess the storyline could make them feel more relentless or an increase in difficulty.

Now, a dynamic event system for the new planet would be a welcome addition.
