I even think its just simply icing on the cake. It might be something simple like giving everyone a badge after heroic boss kills in wow - or the gold that you get everytime you kill a boss in wow. We definitely need more data on the quality of the loot as well. Though i doubt it(item drops from bags) will be the sole upgrade path as it seems to be somewhat narrow.Quote fromYeah arguing the loot bag stuff is pointless for now, I concur, but I still think it's a much better system to TRY OUT than sticking to the traditional one that is outdated and, in my honest opinion, horridly broken.
I've been GM of several guilds in my life, and never once have I wanted to "control" the way my guild deals with loot. Having a loot bag system is a much better way of addressing issues to do with gearing than it was for me to selectively hand them out myself.
Let's wait till the Beta weekends to see how it works, ey? :) Good discussion though.

Imagine the face of the BH when he flares an entire raid hiding behind 2 smugglers.Posted in: Smuggler

I find it a bit disturbing.Posted in: Smuggler
Sneaking around with a shotgun and unloading it at pointblank from behind out from the shadows. Then kicking them in the groin when downed.

1 month lockouts with 30 bosses in each!!!Posted in: Endgame PvE
Hows that for epic/heroic?
Though i think they shouldnt implement the flexible lockouts just yet. It seems like a newfangled system that might just bring in a lot of confusion and angst. Though it's more of a guess than anything else.

I think i agree with darth - You're assuming too much. For one - having the lootsack drop items and from what i can tell badges (and are more inclined to believe there will be more way badge drops than gear) means that the 6/14 people that got dragged into the op to gear the 2 that are lacking gets paid in some way to run the op.Quote from
It's just in the nature of the system. If you have 14 people that doesn't need loot and 2 people that do, unless there is a smart system (which I talked about), 7/8 loot received by the group will on average be handed to a person that doesn't need it and end up as vendor-loot.Quote fromHighlighted section: How do you know it will happen frequently? Have stats been released on what the drop rate is? Has anything been said on what exactly drops? You can't make assumptions at this stage.
Not to mention if they decide to remove the lootsack system - BW probably wont just transfer all the loot drops onto the boss and have it drop like 16 pieces of loot per kill. The raid will get an extra one or two loot if theyre lucky - and if you match it to your scenario the 2 will get a slightly elevated chance (as opposed to being able to get the gear from their own lootbags) and the raid gets nothing assuming they already have everything they want. You still end up with VTs.... possibly less VTs per head infact.
On a normal loot/farm run in wow, raiders would normally go home empty handed in most cases or with more dkp to spend which might lead to guild DKP inflation. The notion that BW decides to give lootbags to everyone removes the burden of guild leaders and raid leaders to dangle more and more carrots in front of everyone. The raid knows that dead bosses = something for them ...and possibly something extra if they have been good to the guild.

Posted in: Endgame PvEQuote fromMy idea for solo end game content is using multiple companions to form a balanced group and fight your way through content in that way. But really, all of this defeats the purpose of multiplayer.
Oh not really - its just one planet out of 17(?). The a sizable chunk of the game inaccessible without a fully functioning party/raid.
Besides - some variety or flexibility are probably a welcome change. Or do you prefer a game where you have to go everywhere and anywhere with a group of people - else you will be playing with one such as certain death. *coughff11cough*
Sometimes i find farming for herbs or ore to be somewhat relaxing or therapeutic (when not on a deadline/quota/in dire need of GOLD).

Yeah, or just straight up inflation.Quote fromQuote fromLike...dailies? Horrible as it may sound it may help the economy by pumping in loose credits. Maybe.
I think it would only help the economy in terms of maybe stemming the tide of gold farming shenanigans. In general, MMO economies need ways to take money out of the game, not putting it into it. Otherwise mudflation lies down that path.
As always - balance is the key. Not sure if anyone remembered how /easy/ it was to farm for consumables and repair money preBC.
Nowadays people are spoiled with dailies - and the excess credits/gold flowing around means people have more leeway to spend cash on whatever they want and crafters can craft to their hearts content knowing that there will always be enough people that will buy their wares. (as opposed to them not having any money to spare and hence would have to farm their own mats - or mats poorly priced/under low demand due to an excess of poverty stricken players)
So they would want enough water for the players to swim around but will have to avoid drowning their playerbase :P

Posted in: General DiscussionQuote fromIt might be harder in TOR. There's no dragons to breathe fire on a sword enchanted by the gods or whatever to make something that deserves to be called a legendary.
What about getting zapped by the Emperor?
I think the question is more to do with "will there be big long EPIC quests and raid events structured along getting a piece of swag?"
Cause if i remember correctly the Twin Blades are Illidan drops and the thoridal as well. And the quel serrar isnt exactly a 'legendary' quality weapon but tit might as well be one considering what you have to do to get it... and the rohk'delar as well.
