For the sake of class balance, I'll bet the Huttball explosion's an insta-kill regardless of spec.Posted in: SWTOR News

That post was made a long time ago, before we knew much about the AC's. We know now, for example, that the Guardian gets a tanking and a damage tree, plus the shared damage tree as well. We also now know that the Sage has access to competitive ranged damage as well as their healing role.Posted in: Jedi Consular

There will be more than one set, I'm sure. Remember too, that once you find a set you like you can keep it pretty much indefinitely, since the mod system lets you upgrade your gear well past its original level, all the way to endgame.Posted in: Jedi Knight

"Heavy armor" isn't an issue, it's just a stat classification. It's not literally how the gear always looks. There are some Guardian outfits that just look like robes.Posted in: Jedi Knight

This compromise seems to be pretty decent, and also lore-friendly. Now players can communicate with each other in person, but don't have access to long-distance because they wouldn't have access to, say, opposite faction radios or what have you.Posted in: SWTOR News

If you look at the films, nobody ever actually changes "factions" besides Darth Vader, and I'd say all the other characters still have moral choices with consequences. Also, none of the characters in Star Wars, aside from Darth Vader, go around killing their buddies.Posted in: General Discussion
The story consequences of TOR are more than enough. Whether someone is alive or dead is just the most primitive (often lazy) version of story consequences. It's hardly the only one.

Maybe, but that's still going to cut down on a ton of harassment. While there's no lore justification, you do have to consider that the only interactions opposing faction players will have are antagonistic ones. MMO communication is largely about some kind of cooperation (trading, grouping, etc.) but none of those things are possible with the opposite faction. From a game standpoint, I think it's a reasonable restriction.Posted in: SWTOR News

Well, you are covered head to toe in the most advanced body armor, plus tons of Force fields.Quote fromQuote fromReal men also don't hide behind cover, they charge right at the enemy. See Captain Sithpuncher in "Hope".
Agreed. Any wimp can hide behind cover or protect themselves with some sort of "mystic" force but it takes a real man to run out into a sea of blaster fire and glow sticks in nothing but some molded plastic armor to secure glory and lead their nation to victory.

That doesn't line up with Zoeller's description, though. He descibes it as "smuggling'" which means moving something from point to point. If the field was static, that couldn't happen and it wold be more of a defensive power.Posted in: Smuggler

I think you're probbably right, Smuggler. People need to understand that good Star Wars EU doesn't just limply pay homage to the films, it's supposed to add to the mythos. This includes both story and visuals.Posted in: Jedi Consular
However I would add that while JC and SI outfits deviate from "movie iconic," they're pretty much in keeping with the styles seen in other EU content. It's still within the sane aesthetic universe, I guess is what I'm saying. It's not like Consulars have adamantium claws and Inquisitors are throwing fireballs.
