And another thing - why would you lasso someone to you just to shoot them in the face. It just makes no sense.
Just give me cover, a wide brim hat and raisins.
Oh man, it must be my time of the month. I'm bringing on the hate! :D

Yeah. I'm not sure why MMO's need to go with tracking projectiles. It can't be a lag thing, just down to the speed of the projectiles. The server has resolved the hit succeeded, you're client knows it succeeded - why can't the bolts just go straight, but quickly.Posted in: SWTOR News

Oh man, that last Mercenary set looks aweful. How does he look out through 2 inches of chitin? Are we sure he's not a shammie? O_OPosted in: SWTOR News
I don't plan to play one - they seem totally underwhelming compared to the big ass guns of the Troopers.

Good job Thergood. Thanks for taking the time to pen this for us.Posted in: Feature

The simple fact the devs routinely reply - and even to trolls - is pretty much unprecedented (esp. considering the frequency). Well done Bioware - this takes considerable effort to stick you head over the parapet.Posted in: SWTOR News

Good Lord. That guy just stood there buff buff buffing himself. Perhaps he hoped his awesomeness would defeat the mobs?Posted in: SWTOR News

Why the heck didn't they get James to do the official Tatooine walkthrough. He seems to know how to play the sorcerer alot better!Posted in: SWTOR News
The companion seemed pretty amazing - he could solo mobs quite happily - in fact I think towards the end he clears a group himself while James chats.
Finally, he mentions release date; significantly for me he indicates they know a release date internally (duh, basic project management I guess)... I'm wondering if they're going to leave it quite late.
"SWTOR will release in 30 days!"

Well Apple, if the exploration / search isn't your thing you can wait - oh around a week - and most of the locations will be on the internet. They've said they won't be random, and won't de-spawn on pickup. I also doubt that the planets will be so vast and *open* that you'd need to look really hard for them. There will be a beaten path we're encouraged to follow - you'll just have to step off the beaten path a little.Posted in: General Discussion
Personally I'll steer clear of any website information on them - I'd prefer to come across them myself.

Kaziel, great post! I had forgotten what it was like in EQ1. Oh man, Kithicor! Interesting your analysis of the different types of MMO as they've developed over the years, great stuff.Posted in: Endgame PvE
There is a shift in play emphasis between levelling and end game - my reference to a shift to a meta-game experience refers to how we're back to stat watching and improving ourselves or our guilds as much as we can (gear, achievements etc) that may not have been as important during the journey.
This may be more of a problem for SWTOR where gamers who stick around are the ones who love the story and RP elements - if this switches to a more meta / stat driven experience for end game it may be too countrary to their experience so far.
I once had an idea for an MMO which actually ended every 6 months - the game would changed during the period based on player / guild activity. Think of it as an XCOM MMO - the fate of the earth would be decided by your actions. People would replay as the next cycle would include a new release - new enemies, new tech to reverse engineer etc.
