I can hear myself in the background of this video! Whoever was videotaping for DH was super friendly. We were waiting in line for the demo and those big TVs were around the booth. I got to play the Jedi Guardian. I scored the only goal on my game and it was a freaking blast!Posted in: SWTOR News

I don't see why there would need to be separate solo content for the varying classes. Perhaps light side/dark side, if at all. And considering how much time and effort they placed in 8 separate stories, fully voiced and with extensive branches in dialogue, I doubt solo content would be as arduous. If Blizzard can make 5 man and 10 man instances, why couldn't a 1 man instance be created as well?Posted in: Endgame PvE

You're probably right; however I know Bioware wants this to be a solid single player experience as well, which is why I would consider the possibility. And there are ways around "cheesing". I don't know if you've ever played WoW, but back when it came out there was a particularly hard solo quest they had to perform, and if anyone interfered with the battle and healed or did damage to the boss during the battle everyone would die instantly, so it had to be done solo. I can only hope for a loophole in this circumstance.Posted in: Endgame PvE
And I would surmise the "end-game" gear that would arise from solo content would be inferior... but it could be competent, or at least offer special rewards like exclusive mounts or whatnot. But who knows... I'm only speculating. I just hope that if Bioware caters to the solo enthusiast during the whole leveling experience, that they don't forget about them when the cap is hit. (That being said I plan on raiding; I just think solo stuff would be sweet.)

When I listened to the last cast, I heard quite a few opinions regarding the possibility of a solo endgame experience. I think it sounds like a really interesting idea, especially if the content is especially difficult. I think that an MMO that makes a solo challenge that really made you feel one with your character (and companion) along with a compelling solo story experience would really build the relationship with your avatar and the world. Raids are important and great and have their place, but if solo content is otherwise relegated to daily quest grinds for rep and special mounts, then that's really missing out on a large demographic that isn't into the multi-hour scheduling commitment of a large structured raid.Posted in: Endgame PvE
So that leaves loot as a large hurdle. I forget which one of the hosts mentioned it but there was a discussion of how loot could be differentiated between solo and raid, much like PvP and PvE loot differs in fundamental ways that allows for totally different gear sets for either endgame choice. So if someone wanted to push through a tough solo endgame experience, what kind of loot would they see? Now this is subject to how loot is distributed, and I don't know if all loot between your character and your companions are interchangeable, but it seems to me that a good reward for solo content would be decent (blue, in WoW conventions) gear for your character, and the best possible companion gear available. Raids don't use companions, and I'm assuming PvP is the same way. So to me this seems like a good way of giving a specialized reward that would aid the solo experience and give reasonable general upgrades for your main character (without snubbing or upstaging hard working raiders).
All in all, I think diversifying the endgame is a huge benefit to an MMO. I think solo exists in the level grind, and has been made very lucrative and simple in other recent MMOs. But continuing solo beyond the level cap has never been tried. This would be a good chance. What do others think?
