I know that on my first server, I severely underworked companion affection. This time around I might be overworking it, although Qyzen for my Sage certainly FEELS underworked even though I know that's it's more him than me. Anyway, it did explain (for me anyway) why that breadcrumb quest was completely unavailable until I finished Chapter 1. If you begin the bonus series before finishing chapter 1, the breadcrumb becomes permanently unavailable, for that character anyway. Maybe it's a good idea to finish class story missions first and then flesh out the various planetary side missions as needed to keep character level current. I don't mind the overleveling of my characters; the reason I left my first server altogether was the perceived utter lack of compassion or sympathy toward my absolute inability to defeat a single elite rakghoul anywhere on Imperial Taris. Now that two of my Imp toons have reached it, I'm at that acid-test moment of truth again. At least I have some reason to believe that on this server I'll be able to get some help if worst comes to worst again.
EDIT: I just thought of something a little odd. The 'Smuggler's Moon' (at least that's what it's called for Imperials) breadcrumb is marked as a level 25 mission. But in order to get it, we have to finish the planet Alderaan and defeat a Chapter 1 nemesis, which will usually, if not always, be too difficult to defeat until at least level 30, if not 32. Maybe the breadcrumb should be at least level 27 or 28? I'm not saying it should be worth 8000 xp, but 900 or 1000 wouldn't be so bad... or would it :P
