People can try and justify their points of view on this subject all they want but Daniel Erickson answered this at PAX East. So honestly people who continue to try and explain their positions on this either like arguing or simply have never seen Daniels answer.
So you will either need to be doing endgame raids/flashpoints, PvP, or have a Network of crafters for top end gear in SW:TOR, but all will be equal in quality according to Daniel Erickson. Now this doesn't mean that crafted gear is going to be easy to come by. He even stated that it would take a "Network" of crafters. But it does give those that love crafting a third option in how they play their game.

Well thankfully it seems that Bioware answered this at PAX,Posted in: Endgame PvE
Danial Erickson: Crafting is a passion of mine. We're not EVE. We're loot based, but we're past WoW, more complex and a lot of social of interaction. To get gear, you'll either be pounding end game or gathering a network of crafters.

Effectively it turns the four classes per side into eight classes per side for a total of sixteen classes. That is a good, thing.Posted in: Feature
