Welcome back to yet another installment of the Darth Hater PvP column, where we’ll collect and update the news that matters to the PvP community. This thread will be updated periodically as necessary throughout the week, so you can refer back to it for new information. If you have any tips on current content that should be featured, or if you think your video or guild should be featured in a future column, send them to me via PM.
Game Update 1.6’s most important addition is of course, the Ancient Hypergate Warzone. While we’ve seen video of it before, I thought it would be a good idea to jump into the Warzone on the live servers to get an initial feeling on the new addition. This preview serves as my first impression of the Warzone before any guides we happen to create.
We would love to hear your thoughts on the new Warzone.
With Game Update 1.6 on the Public Test Server and on the way to live servers soon, BioWare decided to introduce the new Warzone coming in the update to the community once again. While it may not contain much new information for those following Star Wars: The Old Republic closely, it still lays out the objectives in a manner that conveys it well to players.
From a gameplay standpoint, Ancient Hypergate plays like a combination of a 2 point objective map, team death match, and a multi-flag game of capture-the-flag. Each of the two energy pylons is synchronized on a power cycle. At the end of this cycle, each pylon discharges energy into the gate of the faction that controls its objective point. Holding one or both of the pylons directly leads to gaining points at the end of each cycle. The amount of energy discharged is based on the amount of enemies defeated during that specific power cycle. The more players defeated, the more energy discharged into a gate! Additionally, the generators in the central structure of the Warzone release suspended energy orbs into the atmosphere. Players are able to collect these orbs and run them directly to an energy pylon. Getting near a friendly controlled pylon with an orb will immediately discharge a small amount of power directly into the gate.

Game Update 1.6: Ancient Hypergate is now on the Public Test Server for players to enjoy. As with all updates, the download will require considerable time depending on connection speed. For now, here are the highlights of what to expect in the new update.
Game Update 1.6: Ancient Hypergate is now on the Public Test Server (PTS) allowing players to experience brand new in-game content, including a new PvP Warzone and Heroic Space Missions.
- Travel to a remote Warzone to discover a brand new PvP battle mechanic. The Republic and Imperial forces are locked in an intense conflict to control two energy pylons. Fight to take control of these powerful pylons and kill enemy forces to discharge energy into your faction’s gate. The first team to open their portal unleashes deadly reinforcements to wipe out enemy players. But beware, those who attempt to control these objective points may find them to be a bit volatile!
- Take on the best pilots in the galaxy. Navigate your ship to victory in new LeveI 50+ Heroic Mode Space Missions! With six new repeatable Heroic Mode Missions per faction, these updated Space Missions will challenge even the most skilled pilots. Players will earn Black Hole Commendations to spend on ship upgrades, high level gear, and more!
For those of you that already have a character, we encourage you to explore Ancient Hypergate and Heroic Space Missions. For your convenience, all Warzone matches on PTS will automatically be set to Ancient Hypergate. Please give us your feedback by posting on thePublic Test Server forum. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to offer the ability to copy characters for this test. Be sure to visit the Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ Test Center to learn more.

Note: Consider the list a work in progress as we await the patch updates to our PTS DB. We will update the entries with links when available.
