A few months back we compiled a list of creatures seen in the Star Wars: The Old Republic marketing. As more information was released, this list became out of date and in need of a drastic overhaul. With the addition of the Inhabitants section to the HoloNet, we felt now was a good time to take a second look at who or what we may encounter in TOR.
What has the body of a man, the mouth of a goat, and three eyes? One of the possible races in Star Wars: The Old Republic, Gran.
Originating from the planet Kinyen, these man-goats are fairly pacifist and sedentary. Dont sound like much of a playable race, do they? Well this screenshot shows otherwise. A Gran with a gun on Tython means there are some violent travelers within this species.
Gran eat Goatgrass and digest it slowly within their two stomachs. It can take about a day to eat one meal, so lets hope they dont have the WoW style eating for health. Evolved from herbivores makes these aliens pacifists with a herd based mentality. (There were some violent times for them, but they were around 1000 BBY) The philosophy these herbivores follow is similar to that of the Ithorians. Unlike the Ithorians they were much less likely to be seen outside their home systems, as Gran that have a mate rarely leave the planet they reside on.
There are some interesting aspects of the Gran that could impact how they are implemented. A form of a caste system places Gran in a chosen career that they are bound to for life. These creatures are also possible companions, as they have a strong desire to create and maintain social connections. Thus, exile is almost a death penalty in their society. The last perk I could think of for these guys is the excellent eyesight they have. Three eyes have their perks, perhaps +5 accuracy.
(Sorry about the screenshot, but the only one I could find had his back to me.)
