If Jedi Consulars are the mind and shield of the Old Republic, Jedi Knights are the sword. They have long served on the front lines, dealing damage to opposing forces with speed and efficiency. They serve as guardians of peace and enforcers of Republic law, seeking out those who need aid and giving them justice without vengeance. This particular class of Jedi is often times seen as representative of all members of the Jedi Order, even though their techniques are quite different from their Jedi Consular brothers. Join us after the jump as we look at the iconic class of the Jedi Knight.
In the Star Wars universe there is no more famous archetype than that of a lightsaber wielding Jedi or Sith. Among these villains and heroes, there is one category of character who is better described as infamous: The Bounty Hunter. Donning armor, blasters, and all manner of gadgetry, these soldiers for hire give Star Wars fans an alternative to the hokey religions and ancient weapons of Jedi. For these reasons and more, BioWare has included the Bounty Hunter as one of the eight main classes in Star Wars: The Old Republic.
In the Star Wars universe, its hard to find a more venerable archetype than the Jedi Knight. One of the species set to appear in this role within Star Wars: The Old Republic is the Miraluka. One of the greatest threats to the Republic preceding the Great War arose approximately three hundred years before when the Sith Lords Darth Revan and Darth Malak began the Jedi Civil War. When the two Jedi, Revan and Malak, returned to Republic space, they had fallen to the dark side. As Sith Lords, Revan and Malak began searching the galaxy for a powerful ancient artifact known as the Star Forge. During their dark campaign, however, Malaks ambitions grew and eventually drove him to betray Revan, sparking the bloody Jedi Civil War. Though Revan was ultimately redeemed and restored peace to the galaxy, he disappeared afterward in search of a great darkness in Deep Space. Through his investigation, Master Gnost-Dural now confirms that this great darkness is the Sith Empire the Jedi Order battles today.
