A few months back we compiled a list of creatures seen in the Star Wars: The Old Republic marketing. As more information was released, this list became out of date and in need of a drastic overhaul. With the addition of the Inhabitants section to the HoloNet, we felt now was a good time to take a second look at who or what we may encounter in TOR.

Friday Update: Taris
Sean Dahlberg introduced us to Taris, another planet included in Star Wars: The Old Republic. Once home to a thriving civilization, Taris was razed by the Sith Lord Darth Malak 300 years ago during the Jedi Civil War. As a symbol of hope, redemption, and defiance, the Republic has begun an unlikely effort to re-colonize Taris. To do so, they will have to deal with the toxic soil, dangerous pirates, and ferocious rakghouls the only survivors of the Sith bombardment. Determined to overcome the challenges, Republic and Jedi leaders are moving forward with the effort. However, Imperial intelligence has other plans

Lore Update: Known Creatures of Star Wars: The Old Republic
Every planet is different. Each planet has its own architecture, geography, native peoples, as well as native plants and animals. While viewing each of the planets, we can see the few creatures that have been released to the general public. Since we will all be on these planets for an extensive amount of time, hopefully, it is probably best to get to know the native creatures we will be dealing with on a regular basis. -
Nexu, The Space Boar
For those of you that dont know what a Nexu is, it is the cat thing from the Geonosis Arena in Episode II. The Nexu is a predator from the planet Cholganna that would hunt all sorts of arboreal critters. This creature is a very fierce predator and is a popular target for big game hunters. There is also a large bounty on live captures as they are popular for gladiatorial combat. One danger of these creatures is they would be released into the wild by collectors that could not care for them, and they would breed to provide a danger for all people on a planet. There were even packs of these creatures on Coruscant by 130 ABY.
As you can see in some of the gameplay videos, these creatures seem to be your run of the mill wild animals that need to die. How much of a challenge they will be has yet to be seen, but if they live up to their reputation they should be well above average, even for the heroes we are made out to be. How widespread these creatures are is still yet to be determined for Star Wars: The Old Republic. For now it looks like Tython has an infestation and Jedi trainees are left to clean up the mess.
