Dromund Kaas, the seat of the Sith Empire, is the second world Imperial players will visit on their trek to level 50. The Dromund Kaas spaceport is the first accessible location on this dark and stormy world, and is located some distance East of Kaas City. Dromund Kaas spaceport houses the ship hangers for each of the four Imperial classes, as well as a taxi service and a few basic vendors.

Coruscant is the first planet Republic players will reach after completing their origin world. It is, by comparison, much larger in scale and size than either Ord Mantell or Tython. The first thing that players will experience on Coruscant is the Senate Tower and Plaza area; the social hub of the world and the location for all the primary trainers; crew skill contacts; vendors; and associated support NPCs. The skill respec contact is here, as well as the Galactic Trade Network terminals -- TOR's version of the auction house. Beyond the mundane functions this area provides, it also serves as the primary introduction to the scale that TOR uses.

Of all the currently confirmed NPCs, the Voss belong to a very special club in Star Wars: The Old Republic. The Voss are one of two species designed by BioWare specifically for the game. Although the planet Voss already existed in the Expanded Universe, BioWare used the planets obscurity as a blank canvas to create this mystical, enigmatic race. -

Of all the planets set to appear in Star Wars: The Old Republic, the moon of Nar Shaddaa is the easiest one to find an analogy for in the real world: Las Vegas. Nar Shaddaa is the over-the-top fictionalized Sin City of the Star Wars Universe. In this article, we will explore Nar Shaddaa, its history and its place in Star Wars: The Old Republic. -

Today's Star Wars: The Old Republic update brings us the poison-laced planet Quesh, and includes both a holonet entry and a video. For those still counting, the announcement of Quesh means this is the 17th confirmed planet. Info on the Holonet pages suggests the possibility of lots of inter-faction conflict, including a group of Republic-aligned Hutts, as Republic and Empire vie for control of the rare adrenal chemicals found on the planet. You can find images of Quesh by using the media gallery below. Dev tracker post and Aurebesh Translation are contained after the jump. -

The Star Wars galaxy is filled with thousands of planets, from barren wastelands to thriving city-planets. The announced planets for Star Wars: The Old Republic are a well-chosen cross section of this diverse spectrum. While some planets are more politically important than others, each will play its role in terms of both gameplay and story. In this overview, you will find a listing of each planet, its faction allegiance, its terrain, relevant , and a brief look at its history and how the planet connects to the Old Republic timeline. -
This week's update is a planetary one by the name of Ilum. Those who are familiar with the EU should recognize the name as it has been featured in Star Wars: Clone Wars, Star Wars: Empire at War, and the Jedi Quest comic series to name a few. For more info on the background of Ilum, check out the Wookieepedia entry. Relevant information about the planet including an Aurebesh Holonet Translation, Screenshots, and Concept Art can be found after the jump:

With the final outcome of the war between the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic still undecided, the icy planet Ilum sits squarely in the cross-hairs. The crystals that grow here in abundance are the source of incredible power and possibility. Jedi and Sith alike have long sought them for their Lightsabers, but the ramifications may go much deeper.
Recently the Empire launched a major assault against the Jedi on Ilum, destroyed the Orders sanctuaries, and initiated an ambitious operation of unknown intent. With its forces already spread thin, the Republic has been unable to strike back in such a remote region, but what price might they pay for losing this valuable resource?
Access the HoloNet to learn more about Ilum. Check out this video to see images of the icy terrain, as well as the crystals themselves. Also, dont forget to visit the media section for never-before-seen screenshots, concept art, and wallpapers showing the scene from every angle. -
This week's Friday update is the reveal of Corellia, the fifteenth playable planet, and Blood of the Empire Issue 11. A few months ago, there was a dissected image of a music sheet with the word "Corellia" as part of the title during the "Music of The Old Republic" video, and we speculated this meant Corellia was in the game.
For those keeping track, out of the 15 revealed planets, we have the following tally going regarding political alignment: five Republic, two Neutral, six Independent (including the "no government" Hoth), and only two Sith planets so far.
Translation of the Corellia HoloNet page incoming and DevTracker comments after the jump. -
The Star Wars: The Old Republic development team was out in full force at Celebration V, and Darth Hater was there to hear what they had to say. Hit the jump to learn just what it takes to craft art for The Old Republic.

The Czerka Corporation is very well known to fans of Knights of the Old Republic
. The company played large parts in both games, always serving as the epitome of corporate corruption. Thanks to the HoloNet, we know that Czerka left its mark under the sands of Tatooine, but what they worked on remains a mystery. We know from general lore that Czerka does not simply fade away after Knights of the Old Republic 2 , and records of its actions and examples of its equipment in stories during and after the Galactic Empire tell us that it should certainly be alive and kicking during the Cold War. Read on for a little bit of history, and you'll see why we believe Czerka will play a large part in Star Wars : The Old Republic .

This week's Star Wars
: The Old Republic update is a planet update in the form of Nar Shaddaa: Circling the planet Hutta is its largest moon Nar Shaddaa, the ultimate corrupt city. Dominated by underworld concerns and owned by the Hutts, this sprawling mass of skyscrapers is considered one of the most dangerous and exciting places in the galaxy, where anything can be had for the right price.
Access the HoloNet to learn more about Nar Shaddaa. Check out this video to see the endless city that covers the moon's landscape. Also, don't forget to visit the media section for never-before-seen screenshots, concept art, and wallpapers showing this capital of illegal commerce.
Also included in this week's update is a new issue of Blood of the Empire and information on the Threat of Peace in print. Working Dissection and decoded Aurebesh after the jump. -
Corellia is conspicuously missing from the announced planets in Star Wars
: The Old Republic , but its long, rich history, and pivotal role in many of the galaxy's political turning points make it a very strong candidate for a future reveal. Aside from serving as the galaxy's focal point for starship design, development and construction, Corellian natives were responsible for the initial Human discovery of the hyperdrive, and the planet is also included among the original founders of the Galactic Republic. The fascinating thing about Corellia and its brother planets is that none of them are native to Corell, the star they orbit around, having been dragged through hyperspace by Celestials using the nearby Centerpoint Station and placed into an artificial orbit. Read on to learn about Corellia's history and our reasons why we feel it will be revealed as a planet in The Old Republic. -
Politics play an integral role throughout the Star Wars universe. We recently took a close look at the Mandalorians, one of the minor factions players may encounter in Star Wars: The Old Republic. This week we are looking at a faction that is very different from the honor-bound warriors: the eternally criminal Hutts.

BioWare recently announced Hoth as the 13th planet in Star Wars: The Old Republic. This iconic planet is seen in multiple forms of media, including Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars Galaxies, and many other Star Wars titles. Delving into the history of the people, places, and things in Star Wars: The Old Republic is our favorite hobby here at Darth Hater. While dissecting and discussing, we realized a very important aspect of Star Wars was missing on our site: factions. We wanted to take a closer look at the groups that may play a key role in the adventures we will experience in game, and our premiere entry for this series was an obvious choice. Here is our in-depth look at the Mandalorians.

Responding to a post on the Star Wars: The Old Republic Official Forums, writer Drew Karpyshyn addressed the connection, or lack thereof, between the planet Hoth and the Expanded Universe character known as General Hoth.
Hate to say it, but as far as I know there is no connection between the planet Hoth and General Hoth. Source material indicates that the planet was known and named thousands of years before the General was born, so it obviously wasn't named for him. I suppose he could have been named for the planet, but there is nothing in his history to indicate any kind of connection.
Of course, I didn't create the General Hoth character he first appeared in a series of Dark Horse comics. All I did was flesh him out a bit. However, I suspect the name was originally chosen to be symbolic of his demeanor: cold, grim and harsh.
Interestingly, there *is* a celestial body that was named after the heroic General. The central star in the Ruusan system was renamed Hoth's Brand in honor of his victories and sacrifices in the war against Lord Kaan's Brotherhood of Darkness. As to the planet that had its ecosystem changed, that was the world of Ruusan, which is a totally separate world from the famous ice planet of Hoth. And Ruusan's climate was altered, but it didn't become an uninhabitable ball of ice. And even though the central star in the Ruusan system was renamed, the planet itself was not.
I realize this doesn't do much to settle the question at hand, but it's a moderately relevant segue.
However, one thing I can confirm: the planet Hoth was already called Hoth during the timeline of SWTOR. Hope this helps.
