As 2012 comes to a close and we celebrate the one-year anniversary of Star Wars: The Old Republic, we thought it'd be interesting to take a look back at the articles Darth Hater has published over the past year and see which ones were the most popular. Browsing the articles that have had the most views of 2012 gives an interesting snapshot of how the year went for SWTOR and Darth Hater. Patch notes during major updates (and long downtimes) account for several of the top viewed articles, so those were excluded from the list. Hit the jump for the list in full.

The Grand Acquisition Race Review
I’m glad they finally released a follow up to the Rakghoul Outbreak World Event. The first event served as a nice distraction from the usual grind, especially since it came out before the Group Finder and Ranked Warzones. Of course, technically it was just another daily grind, but there were some nice rewards such as the Rakling Pets, the Companion Customization, and the Black-Green Color Crystals. The Grand Acquisition Race is the second World Event to hit The Old Republic, and I figured it’d be nice to go through the event and record my thoughts day by day, seeing whether or not I found it worthwhile.

I asked Systems Designer David Hunt why the Sand People Bloodguard outfit is currently bind on pickup instead of bind on Legacy, and he let me know that it will be changed to bind on Legacy in the future - this will also affect the Imperial and Republic Containment Officer outfits from the Rakghoul event.

UPDATE (8/14/12 1:30pm EST): Joveth Gonzalez weighs in with a tip concerning resetting bonus missions associated with the Grand Acquisitions Race:
Hi there! If you ever get frustrated and delete a bonus mission during the Grand Acquisitions Race's main mission, the easiest way to get it back is to reset the main mission for this event. You'll still retain all of your previous items and you will only lose the progress that you've made towards the current item that you're pursuing. Hope that helps!
The Grand Acquisitions Race is on! With this kind of World Event, it is important for us to share information as it comes in. To assist in this, we’re creating a work in progress guide that will document our progression through the event. A detailed recounting of the new quest line along with screenshots is contained after the jump. Video and further information is coming soon but for now, hit the jump to find out more.

World Event: The Grand Acquisition Race
Moments ago, BioWare teased the new World Event, The Grand Acquisition Race with video of the transmition players will see.
So what do we know? From the video we can tell that a group called the Chevin Conglomerate is organizing an event called “The Grand Acquisition Race” in the hopes of “providing personal enrichment opportunities” for players. Their main goal appears to be to acquiring specific items that are spread throughout the galaxy. The event is likely started on Nar Shadaa’s Promenade, but the Chevin Representative mentions that the rewards are “for individuals capable of interstellar travel. Others need not apply”, making it probable that you’ll be flying to multiple planets to complete this event, unlike the Rakghoul Outbreak event that only took place on Tatooine. From the news report, it’s clear that their activities are not approved of by the Imperials.
The Chevin are an alien race in the Star Wars galaxy that is essentially a giant criminal organization. They’re interested in acquiring wealth and power through subterfuge and intrigue, and are a culture that heavily relies on slave labour. Not much is known about the Chevin during the times of The Old Republic, although they do survive and become supporters of the Galactic Empire during the Imperial Era.
In the meantime, if you wish to see the leaked quests and item details from the 1.3 patch that reference the event, head over to our recent article on the subject. While the event is not live yet, we'll be sure to let you know when it starts with a detailed guide soon.
