Now that Star Wars: The Old Republic’s Game Update 1.6: Ancient Hypergate is in the wild, BioWare christened the launch with a new trailer showing off the new content. While it may not reveal anything big to the fans following the game here, it still serves as an advertisement for the update.
Two separate updates accompanied today's update, a new Developer Blog from James Ohlen and Terror From Beyond trailer. In the first, James Ohlen speaks about the release schedule for new content going forward for Star Wars: The Old Republic.
This Game Update is also the start of a new release cadence. Our strategy so far has been to release big updates every few months. But this leaves long periods of time where you, our fans, don’t have anything new. So we’re moving to a model where we release Game Updates on a much more regular cadence. Our initial aim is for something as close to every six weeks as we can get. I’d promise an exact schedule, but in a live game we need some flexibility as the stability of the service trumps the release of an update on a particular date.
This year has been exciting so far with three Game Updates. But before the end of the year, it’s our intention to have released another three Game Updates, starting with Terror From Beyond. This is in addition to moving to Free to Play. But I can say in all honesty, that our plans for 2013 are even bigger. Our team’s experience, improving tools and better production processes are allowing us to move faster in development than we ever have before. More exciting news to come!
Lastly, a new launch trailer for the Operation Terror From Beyond is available for download and stream. While it may not feature much new in the trailer, it does at least have a few new areas to see.
On a side note, if you have yet to see the notes for Game Update 1.4, we have those available. If you are interested in diving into all of the content the new patch has to offer, hit our coverage post. With that, enjoy Game Update 1.4!
As you may already know, Star Wars: The Old Republic is at Gamescom and BioWare is showing off some of the content coming out this year. Now with the panel over, BioWare would like to share the trailer with the rest of the world. For the official posting of the trailer, head on over to the media section on the SWTOR page.
The 1.2 game update to Star Wars: The Old Republic has arrived. Among the new content in this major update is a new end-game Operation, entitled Explosive Conflict. The story picks up where it left off after Karagga's Palace and takes players to the planet of Denova. A new video has been released providing a preview of what to expect.
In Explosive Conflict, the legendary warlord Kephess has united two warring armies under his flag, declaring Denova’s independence and proclaiming himself its ruler. Now the Republic and the Empire, each battling for control over the planet’s vital resources, send their most powerful heroes to battle through the warlord’s army of soldiers and mercenaries before facing off against Kephess himself for control of Denova.

Planet Coruscant was just announced during the PAX Star Wars: The Old Republic demonstration and as such we were lucky enough to be able to record the trailer of the planet shown via the demonstration stage screen, hope you like it.
We also have a high-resolution direct link for the video. If you download the video via the direct link you will have to have the Divx codec or use VLCPlayer to view it. Note: This was recorded via a cam, so not a direct feed. Hopefully they post a direct feed of the trailer later. Thanks has to go to Pete and Sleeper (two members of the team here at Darth Hater) for recording it for us.
If you liked the video please Digg it if you would be so kind. :)
Update: We now have an HD version of the trailer that we recorded on the 3rd day of PAX.
