Now that a large portion of the player base is at max level, end-game weeklies are of greater importance for character progression. One such weekly involves players taking out a traveler of unknown origin on Voss. In hopes to assist players in their first confrontation with this extraterrestrial, we supply a guide to the fight and its pitfalls after the jump.

Lore Update: Voss

Of all the currently confirmed NPCs, the Voss belong to a very special club in Star Wars: The Old Republic. The Voss are one of two species designed by BioWare specifically for the game. Although the planet Voss already existed in the Expanded Universe, BioWare used the planets obscurity as a blank canvas to create this mystical, enigmatic race. -

Friday Update: Fan Friday

Today's update is a Fan Friday, which of course brings with it a Studio Insider: an in-depth look at Concept Artist Diego Almazan's creation of a Sith Temple. The Fan Friday includes some new concept art scenes that look to include pieces from Alderaan, Taris, Voss, Nar Shaddaa, and Hutta; a selection of new emoticons, and some new creature avatars. Fan site Mos Eisley Radio got the spotlight shone on them, and the chance to answer some questions from BioWare.
The Community Q&A thread to go along with the Fan Friday is focused on Flashpoints, which should mean plenty of answers about TOR's answers to dungeons coming down the pipe in a few weeks. Head on over to the official thread and ask the devs some of those burning and insightful questions you have!
As usual for a Fan Friday, there's a couple of new polls up on the forums. The first is Where do you spend most of your time on the forums, and the second is Which Flashpoint are you most interested in so far?
As we mentioned on Tuesday, Gordon Walton, BioWare Austin's co-Studio General Manager, has left BioWare. Stephen Reid stepped in to the forums to talk about Walton's recent departure--or more accurately, to pass along Gordon's own words about his departure. Stephen reports that "Gordon's a great guy and left us on great terms, we thought we'd give him one last right of reply." His quote, along with lots of juicy tidbits from the Studio Insider, available after the jump. You can also find our Media Gallery of the update below. -

The announced planets for Star Wars: The Old Republic are a well-chosen cross section of this diverse spectrum. Friday Update: Creating Worlds and Advanced Classes
Sean Dahlberg sends word of this week's updates: Principal Lead Writer Daniel Erickson talks about creating the world of Voss in Star Wars: The Old Republic!
In the latest developer blog, "Creating Worlds," Daniel Erickson goes into detail about the process behind creating Voss. He includes some of his notes collected during the process and expands on the sheer amount of documentation that is generated for each of the worlds created for the game.
In addition to the new developer blog, the Game Systems section of the official website has been launched. The Advanced Class System is the first entry in this new section.Today we are revealing a new area of the website called Game Systems. This area talks about various features from a gamer's perspective. Our first section in this new area discusses the Advanced Class System.
The Advanced Class System grants you access to unique skills and abilities, and is designed to allow you the flexibility to customize your characters to fit your play style. For example, all Smugglers are lucky, opportunistic swindlers. But, do you want to be the kind of Smuggler that sneaks into the middle of a firefight and quickly blasts away at an opponent from point-blank range? Or do you want to be the kind that keeps to the outskirts of the battle, strategically picking your targets from a distance?
These are just some of the meaningful choices that the Advanced Class System offers you to personalize and advance your character in Star Wars: The Old Republic!
This new section gives a summary of the concept behind the Advanced Classes and emphasizes how important choosing an Advanced Class will be in defining a player's character.

Inhabitants Overview Dissection
BioWare recently revealed a new section of the HoloNet titled Inhabitants. This section of the Star Wars: The Old Republic official site is dedicated to the NPCs and mobs we will encounter in-game, broken up into three subcategories: Creatures, Droids, and Humanoids. In addition to new screenshots and animations, each entry contains few paragraphs dedicated to the mob's defining traits and features. We took a closer look at the writing on these pages (both English and Aurebesh), picking specific statements that inspired gameplay speculation. -
Lore Update: Voss
Voss was recently announced as the 12th planet in Star Wars: The Old Republic. This planet is a unique addition as next to nothing was known about it prior to last weeks Friday Update. BioWare appears to be using that void to weave a new story and display their willingness to add to the IP. The information supplied on the Holonet reveals much more than just an interesting story; it also hints at the possible gameplay elements that Voss could offer. -
Friday Update: Voss
BioWare announced today the twelfth planet included in Star Wars: The Old Republic: Voss. We're thrilled to announce not only the next planet to be featured in Star Wars: The Old Republic but also a planet never-before-seen in the Star Wars mythos: Voss.
An alien species resides on the mysterious world of Voss and is said to have an incredible aptitude for the Force. These Voss Mystics -- rumored to be enigmatic healers as well as seers -- struggle to protect their utopian society from annihilation.
Discover the secrets of Voss as you are forced time and again to choose between maintaining the appearance of neutrality so important to your leaders or striking against your enemies while you have the chance.
Access the HoloNet records to learn more about the darkness at the heart of Voss. Encounter the narrow trails and wide rock shelves in this video and visit the media section for never-before-seen screenshots, concept art, and wallpapers depicting the madness and despair creeping through the lands.
According to the STAR WARS Essential Atlas, the Independent politically-aligned Voss is located in the galactic northeast Tion Cluster of the Outer Rim, with proximity to the Perlemian Trade Route.
Aurebesh translations of Voss' HoloNet page are as follows:
Subtitle: The Endless War
Vertical, Left Side: The Last Gormak Must Not Die
Vertical, Right Side: Shrine of Healing
Vertical, Text Box Left Side: Nightmare Lands
As a side note, we here at Darth Hater noticed some less than obvious references to the planet in the Returning to Taris video documentary -- there are two instances where Voss water bottles are located on the desks of two people interviewed.
