BioWare is quite matter-of-fact this week, releasing tidbits of information in some short and concise posts in this week's DevTracker Highlights. Principal Lead Combat Designer Georg Zoeller talks lightsaber colors and energy blades. Lead Systems Designer Damion Schubert answers questions about the appearance of younglings, dueling, species and class combinations, and the soul of a class and their armor. Senior Game Designer William Wallace also talks about the Imperial Agent and the evolution of their energy blade abilities. Hit the jump to see all the highlights. -
Friday Update: Trooper Dossier

For the Christmas Eve update, BioWare announced more updates for the Trooper class. Players can choose a member of the Zabrak species for their Trooper. The Troopers will fly a Rendili Hyperworks BT-7 Thunderclap which confirms our speculation about it in the Space Combat Video Dissection. The Weequay demolitions expert Tanno Vik joins the game as the Trooper Class Companion. Also included in the update was a revamp to the Trooper Class page which includes more information about the Advanced Classes of the Trooper. Most important for the Troopers out there is the class video (embed after the jump) along with the Dissection of it that we covered yesterday. Official Forum Post, Aurebesh Translations, Ship Video Dissection, video embed, and new screenshots after the jump. -
Lore Update: Zabrak

Players will be able to choose from many different species in Star Wars: The Old Republic. We currently do not know if this choice will change how the game is played, but learning about these galactic residents might help some people pick the avatar that fits their personality and play style best. Join us in taking a closer look at the Zabrak, a fierce and powerful species that stands on both sides of the faction divide. -
Friday Update: New Timeline Entry, Playable Species Reveal
Star Wars : The Old Republic revealed the latest Timeline record, The Mandolorian Wars, plus a few more playable species: the Sith Pureblood, the Miraluka, the Mirialan, and the Zabrak.
Adding to the Twi'lek Smuggler, Rattataki Bounty Hunter, and the Chiss Imperial Agent, the classes are paired with the new species as follows:- Sith Pureblood - Sith Warrior
- Miraluka - Jedi Knight
- Mirialan - Jedi Consular
- Zabrak - Sith Inquisitor

When questioned about the definition of the Zabrak's horns in the image above, BioWare's Sean Dahlberg responded with something interesting regarding character creation:While we haven't gotten into Character Creation yet (publicly), there are a variety of things you can adjust and customize for each of the species.
Dahlberg later commented a bit vaguely about playable species restrictions:There are combinations we haven't confirmed. James recently talked on this subject at Comic-Con International, though, and announced that there will be some restrictions. For the time being, the combinations we have announced you can count on. What other combinations will there be? That's an update for another day...
